Talus - the bone that connects the foot to the leg
Calcaneus - the heel bone, it’s the largest tarsal bone
Navicular - located in front of the talus
Medial cuneiform - the first of the 3 cuneiform bones
Intermediate cuneiform- the second cuneiform bone
Lateral cuneiform- the third cuneiform bone
Cuboid - situated on the lateral side of the foot
these are the seven tarsal bones
First metatarsal- big toe
2/3/4 follow on from the big toe
Fifth met is the little toe
these are the 5 metatarsal bones
Each toe consists of 3 phalanges proximal medal and distal except the big toe it only has 2 , proximal and distal
Proximal phalanges 5 one for each toe
Middle phalanges 4 one for each toe except the big toe
Distal phalanges 5 one for each toe
these at the 14 phalanges
so when you put it all together, you have a wonderfully intricate architecture of bones that allows for the amazing feats of movement and stability we often take for granted.
sole-care because we really do care!
