Friction and Pressure: corns typically develop on areas of the foot that experience repeated rubbing or pressure. This can be due to ill fitting shoes, high heels or even foot deformities like bunions or hammer toes.
Skins response: in response to this constant irritation, the skin begins to thicken to protect itself. This is a natural defense mechanism. The thickened skin forms hard, sometimes painful bumps, which we refer to as a corn.
Types of corn: hard corns which are usually small and have a hard center. A soft corn is more rubbery and develops in between the toes due to moisture.
