Sepsis is a severe response to an infection that can lead to tissue damage and organ failure. When it occurs in the foot , it usually stems from an infection in the skin or underlying tissues, such as cellulitis or an abscess, especially if there is an underlying condition like diabetes or peripheral vascular disease.

Signs and symptoms:-

  1. redness and swelling

  2. Increased pain

  3. Fever and chills

  4. Rapid heart rate and breathing

  5. Discoloration of the skin

PREVENTION - wound care, properly clean wounds or cuts, keeping diabetes or other chronic conditions well managed can reduce the risk of infections. Foot hygiene, regular foot maintenance. If you or someone you know is experiencing these symptoms, don’t hesitate to seek help!
